The University of Technology in Novi Pazar (UTNP) is one of the youngest higher education
institutions in Serbia, established on October 26, 2006, with the aim of promoting regional balanced
development and improving youth education levels. The first acting president was Professor Ć emal Doli ć
anin, and a temporary council was formed by scholars from several top Serbian universities (such as the
University of Belgrade, Novi Sad University, etc.) to provide academic support for its initial
development.
In the early days of its establishment, the university adopted a college system,
consisting of three colleges: Philosophy, Law and Economics, and Technology and Technology. Later
transformed into a departmental system, integrating into departments such as law, economics, philosophy,
natural mathematics, technology, biomedical science, and interdisciplinary sciences, forming a flexible and
efficient academic framework.
UTNP focuses on cultivating professionals in technical disciplines, including engineers, computer scientists, architects, and electrical engineering, while also covering application fields such as biotechnology and food engineering. Its technology department consists of:
· Department of Architectural Engineering: covering architectural design and civil engineering;
· Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering: including software development, automation, and robotics technology;
· Department of Biotechnology and Food Engineering: Focusing on agricultural technology and food processing innovation.
As of 2018, the university has passed three national certifications and offers over 50 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, with technical courses accounting for over 70%.
UTNP has established cooperation with many universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad, including technical universities in Austria, Italy, Türkiye and other countries, to promote teacher-student exchanges and joint research. The campus covers an area of 16000 square meters and is equipped with 17 modern laboratories (such as robot laboratories, material testing centers), professional libraries, and sports halls, providing hardware support for technological practice and innovation.
As an educational hub in southwestern Serbia, UTNP is committed to driving regional economic development through technology. Its tuition fees are the lowest in the country, and 80% of students enjoy government subsidies, significantly improving the education structure of local youth. Current President Professor Bratislava Miri ć has proposed the "Technology Empowering Communities" strategy, which plans to further expand cooperation with industry and promote the transformation of scientific research achievements
